Neighborhood

You will be staying in one of Lisbon's historic neighborhoods, half way between Alfama and Bairro Alto. It's home to many families and has a very homely feel. It can't be more typical than this! You will find several small restaurants on our street (some are really really good!!), an ATM machine not very far and a groceries store even closer.

Welcome to one of our newly renovated apartments in the heart of Lisbon! NEW MATTRESSES! Some of our previous guests have suggested we should change our mattresses so we heard you and are installing new ones. These are often found in 5-star hotels so I'm sure you'll have a great night's sleep! Our apartment is situated on the 3rd and top floor of a traditional Lisbon building in the Downtown district. It has plenty of sunshine and a view of Rio Tejo. You will find a charming living room with a sofa bed, a cosy room with a double bed, bathroom with shower, a fully furnished kitchen and sunny terrace, all decorated in a traditional Portuguese fashion! Cable TV and WiFi internet access are available. We do not have air conditioning as we find there is no need for one. Portuguese houses are built to be cool even during the summer. If you'd like, we can provide you with fans! You will be a short walk away from Rossio, the city's main square and the heart of downtown Lisbon, from three subway stations (Rossio, Martim Moniz and Retauradores), and the Rossio Train Station. You will also be a few minutes away from the historical neighbourhoods of Alfama and Bairro Alto. We are located 50m away from the queen of Fado, Amalia’s, birthplace and you will find plenty of small typical restaurants, supermarkets and an ATM literally within walking distance. Walking down the street, to the left will be the Martim Moniz square, the new trendy spot with new pubs and restaurants where the iconic 28 tramway starts its journey; to the right is Avenida da Liberdade, home to exclusive international boutiques to tempt and inspire as well as the Rua das Portas de Santo Antão street with the Coliseu music hall and traditional restaurants; and straight ahead to Rossio and Baixa Pombalina. Downhill you will be at Rossio, the heart of downtown Lisbon where you can find all sorts of public transportation, from Metro, Bus and Taxis to the Train that will take you to Sintra for a highly recommended day trip, if you have the time! Within walking distance you will also find an underground car park and on street parking. Please note that Lisbon is quite hilly and our street in no exception. Please consult with us if you have an mobility issues and we will find the best option for you. Also if you have lots of luggage consider taking a Taxi from the airport.
